Roturisteytystyö etenee vahvalla yhteistyöllä ja kasvattajien tuella

Suomen Sileäkarvaiset Noutajat ry:n roturisteytystyöryhmä kokoontui elokuun kokoukseensa suunnittelemaan rodun tulevaisuutta ja edistämään roturisteytysprojektin valmistelua. Työryhmän työ etenee hyvässä hengessä, avoimeen tiedonvaihtoon ja laajaan yhteistyöhön perustuen.

Yksi kokouksen merkittävimmistä kuulumisista oli kasvattajakyselyn tulosten käsittely. Kysely lähetettiin 74 kasvattajalle, ja siihen saatiin yhteensä 46 vastausta, mikä tarkoittaa erinomaista 64,8 prosentin vastausastetta. Tulokset osoittavat, että lähes kaksi kolmasosaa vastaajista suhtautuu roturisteytysprojektiin myönteisesti. Työryhmä kiittää lämpimästi kaikkia kyselyyn osallistuneita kasvattajia arvokkaista näkemyksistä. Kyselyn vastauksista esitellään erikseen laaja katsaus tulevassa Jalostus ja Roturisteytys Extrassa.

Roturisteytysprojektin verkkosivusto julkaistiin heinäkuun alussa osoitteessa flatti.net, ja sitä kehitetään edelleen projektin edetessä. Flatti.net sivustolle lisätään muun muassa helposti löydettävä roturisteytyspainike, joka parantaa tiedon saavutettavuutta jäsenistölle ja muille asiasta kiinnostuneille.

Kokouksessa käytiin läpi runsaasti asiantuntijoilta, tutkijoilta ja rodun harrastajilta saatuja yhteydenottoja. Keskusteluissa nousivat esille muun muassa geneettinen monimuotoisuus, käyttäytymisen arviointi, luonneominaisuudet sekä mahdollisten yhteistyörotujen tarkastelu. Työryhmä pitää erittäin arvokkaana sitä laajaa kiinnostusta ja asiantuntemusta, jota projektia kohtaan on osoitettu.

Työryhmän jäsenet ovat perehtyneet Suomen Kennelliiton roturisteytysohjeistuksiin sekä rodun jalostuksen tavoiteohjelmaan, jotka muodostavat tärkeän perustan tulevalle valmistelutyölle. Lisäksi työryhmä jatkaa mahdollisten yhteistyörotujen kartoittamista sekä roturisteytyshakemuksen vaatiman aineiston tarkastelua.

Keskusteluissa korostui myös rodunomaisen, flattimaisen luonteen säilyttäminen osana mahdollista roturisteytysohjelmaa. Työryhmä pitää tärkeänä, että rodun käyttötarkoitus, luonne ja ominaispiirteet huomioidaan huolellisesti kaikissa suunnittelun vaiheissa.

Jäsenistön osallistaminen ja avoin viestintä nähtiin kokouksessa keskeisinä tavoitteina. Työryhmä valmistelee etäkeskustelutilaisuuksia sekä asiantuntijaluentoja, joiden avulla roturisteytysprojektin taustoja, tavoitteita ja etenemistä voidaan avata kaikille kiinnostuneille entistä laajemmin.

Syksyn aikana työryhmä jatkaa aktiivista valmistelutyötä, kokoaa lisää tietoa mahdollisista yhteistyöroduista sekä tutkii tarvittavia dokumentteja. Tavoitteena on rakentaa rodun tulevaisuutta pitkäjänteisesti, tutkittuun tietoon ja laajaan yhteistyöhön nojaten.

Crossbreeding Project Progresses Through Strong Collaboration and Breeder Support

The Crossbreeding Working Group of the Finnish Flat-Coated Retriever Association (Suomen Sileäkarvaiset Noutajat ry) met in August to discuss the future of the breed and continue preparations for the crossbreeding project. The group’s work is progressing in a positive spirit, built on open communication and broad cooperation.

One of the most significant topics of the meeting was the review of the breeder survey results. The survey was sent to 74 breeders and received 46 responses, representing an excellent response rate of 64.8%. The results show that nearly two thirds of the respondents view the crossbreeding project positively. The working group would like to warmly thank all breeders who participated and shared their valuable insights. A comprehensive overview of the survey results will be published in the upcoming Breeding and CrossbreedingExtra publication.

The crossbreeding project website was launched at the beginning of July on flatti.net and will continue to be developed as the project progresses. Among the planned improvements is a clearly visible crossbreeding project button on the website, making information more accessible for members and others interested in the project.

During the meeting, the group reviewed numerous contacts and inquiries received from experts, researchers, and breed enthusiasts. Discussions covered topics such as genetic diversity, behavioural evaluation, temperament traits, and the assessment of potential partner breeds. The working group greatly appreciates the wide interest and expertise that have been directed toward the project.

Members of the working group have familiarized themselves with the Finnish Kennel Club’s crossbreeding guidelines as well as the breed’s Breeding Strategy Programme, both of which provide an important foundation for the ongoing work. In addition, the group continues to evaluate potential partner breeds and review the materials required for a future crossbreeding application.

The importance of preserving the characteristic Flat-Coated Retriever temperament was also highlighted in the discussions. The working group considers it essential that the breed’s purpose, temperament, and defining characteristics are carefully taken into account throughout all stages of the planning process.

Member involvement and open communication were recognized as key priorities. The working group is planning online discussion events and expert lectures to provide broader opportunities for everyone interested in learning about the background, goals, and progress of the crossbreeding project.

Throughout the autumn, the working group will continue its active preparatory work, gather additional information on potential partner breeds, and review the necessary documentation. The goal is to support the future of the breed through a long-term approach based on research, knowledge, and extensive cooperation.
